Ger Cusack

Graduated from UCD Veterinary College in 1982.
MVB MRCVS Cert DHH

Practicing vet at Comeragh Veterinary, a mixed, mainly dairy cattle practice, based in Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford.

Completing the Certificate in Dairy Herd Health in 2015 revived my interest in Bovine Preventive Medicine.

I believe that the management and control of Bovine Lameness is a very important and relevant topic and I have delivered many courses to farmer discussion groups, professional hoof trimmer and vets on this subject over the last 10 years. Teagasc advisors and the Teagasc agricultural colleges have also invited me to address them.

Together with my colleague Ned Dunphy and Muireann Conneely of Teagasc research, we produced the “Reducing Lameness in Irish Dairy Herds” booklet in 2022.

In conjunction with colleagues Ned Dunphy and Bob Twigg, we run Greenway Agritraining, a company dedicated the delivery of practical, hands-on training to farmers and others in the farming sector. Our focus is providing training and knowledge transfer around hoof care and the prevention of lameness in dairy herds.

Elected Member of the Veterinary Council of Ireland, the statutory body that is responsible for the regulation of the veterinary profession in Ireland.
